Invoking the classic sounds chosen by the originators of sample based hip-hop. Created in collaboration with Arthouse Acoustics, we recorded live upright pianos, soulful guitars and classy trumpet lines. These Melodic Stacks were polished, mixed and mastered and then resampled and re-imagined creating a complimentary collection. Dripping in soul, all royalty free. Care was taken in sourcing vintage instruments with character and working with talented musicians to compose and perfect instrumentation reminiscent of the 70s themes and motifs that early crate diggers were drawn to. Classic microphone and mixing techniques were employed along with modern crisp engineering. We curated the best selection of loops and one shots from the performances and dosed in analog warmth and soulful textures. When resampling the compositions, we created sounds that combine the sonics of rare vinyl with modern left-field sound design. Using pitch and time, downsampling, reversing, saturation and more, the melodies will inspire Trap, Rap and Lofi Hip-Hop just as smoothly as Neo-Soul and Sampled Electronica. Built to evoke hiphop and trap sonics but with the character to inspire any genre. Instruments include a vintage Steinway grand piano, baby grand and 1890’s upright piano, the full spectrum of electric piano models, original Hammond Organ amped through a Leslie cabinet and classic Wurlitzer electric piano. The synth lineup includes some of our personal favourites Juno 106, Moog SubPhatty, Jupiter 8, DX7 and on the lofi end the Yamaha Portasound VSS480 and PSS480! We recorded and engineered professional session musicians at some of London’s best studios and live spaces including The Pool Recording Studio, Livingston Studio 1, Dock Street Studio and the CPA London Studio. We made full use of vintage, highend and unique instruments, microphones, preamps and outboard gear. At the CPA studio we curated the most interesting and inspiring performances from the sessions and mixed the clean audio to taste. We then went to work resampling through our collection of various vintage tape formats including original Revox reeltoreel, Tascam Portastudio, 8Track, modified cassette recorders and Walkmans and even a 1980s Fisher Price toy cassette recorder! Finally the audio was resampled again, effected, pitched and chopped with a selection of boutique fx pedals, hardware saturation and digital emulations creating a wide range of tones, textures and nostalgic sonic character. The Glow
The Glow is centered around the classic soul sounds that glittered and glowed, spiced up a notch through resampling. Producer Xan Young combined elements of classic 1970s soul with boom bap hip hop beats. He layed down guitar, Prophet 6, Arp Odyssey, Juno 60, Fender P Bass, piano, and vocals—each meticulously written and performed through Class-A 500 series preamps. Each instrument was then layered together, printed, and chopped up in much the same way someone would find a tasty segment from an old soul record and toss it in an MPC.

One week on an island, two of the most recognised names in sample creation, one unique project. ‘On the Run - Mallorca’ is a creative collaboration between boutique sound design teams Capsun ProAudio and Julez Jadon & SVRN. Continuing in the tradition of Julez & SVRN’s acclaimed ‘Producers On The Run’ series. Mallorca would provide the backdrop, one of Spain’s Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean. We found we both have shared family history going back to the 1960s and it is a beautiful, inspiring location with dramatic mountains, blue seas and dense nature. We found a traditional country house and both teams, including Capsun, Julez Jadon, SVRN, Yvng Face and Matt Borzoni, travelled from Germany and the UK. Every sound and sample has been created, recorded and designed on location. Expect to find experimental vocals, ambient lush chords, re-sampled compositions and cosy plucked acoustic guitars. We explored the island with our Zoom recorder, capturing natural ambience and foley including cicadas at night, church bells in small villages and the rustle of wind in the trees. Drums and percussion were created with everything from metal farm equipment, ice cubes, fire wood and kitchen utensils! All sounds are 100% royalty-free and designed to push the boundaries of Modern Hip-Hop, Trap & Rap production. Every loop has been meticulously key tagged and tempo-synced.

Dollar Bin: Resampled Soul
The Splice Originals crew teamed up with Jason Matthews on keys and Justin Andres on guitar to create a foundation of songs primed to be chopped, twisted, and screwed. Matthews and Andres worked remotely off of each other’s ideas, swapping melodies and riffs back and forth until they had complete songs. We then resampled and reworked their files, just as if we had found them in the dollar vinyl bin. The result is a mix of dark funk, lo-fi hip hop, and cinematic soul thrown in the blender. In addition to the keys and guitars, you’ll find banging hip hop drums to make this a full-on toolkit for making low-key bangers.

Motor City Soul: Vintage Hip-Hop Cuts is the third installment of our Motor City Soul series. This time we focused on the melodic sauce and have delivered a pack overflowing with golden nuggets and resampled vintage cuts, reminiscent of the classic boom bap sound inspired by Detroit jazz records. This is a digital crate digger’s dream. Authentic jazz and soul compositions and golden era melodics are all here alongside ensemble cuts, trumpet, guitar, and piano loops oozing with inspiration and invoking the classic sounds chosen by the originators of sample-based hip-hop. Created in collaboration with Arthouse Acoustics, we recorded live vintage pianos, soulful guitars, and trumpet lines. These melodic stacks were polished, mixed, and mastered, and then resampled and re-imagined creating a complementary collection. We used vintage instruments with vibe and character and worked with talented musicians to compose and perfect instrumentation reminiscent of the '70s themes and motifs that early crate diggers were drawn to. Classic microphone and mixing techniques were employed along with modern crisp engineering. The resampled compositions combine the sonics of rare vinyl with modern lofi sound design techniques including pitch and time, downsampling, reversing, saturation, and more. Every loop has been meticulously key-tagged and tempo-synced. Designed to perfectly inspire and compliment hip-hop, rap, trap, lofi hip-hop, and soulful beats.

The name “Gamble and Huff” was synonymous with a countless number of major hits in the 70’s. The production duo was a force to be reckoned with, with a soulful sound that was embraced all over the world. If you’re still not familiar, groups like The Jackson 5, The Stylistics, and The O’Jays should ring a bell. Gamble and Huff recorded these chart-topping hits right here in Philadelphia at Sigma Sound Studios on 12th Street. Although the studio is now closed, we have kept this radio-ready soul alive with our sample collection titled “12th and Vine”. This sample pack comes with 10 Melodic Loops (stems included) recorded through real analog solid-state and tube preamps and compressors for the vintage warmth and depth that made Gamble and Huff records go. These loops contain a plethora of different stringed instruments including acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and sitar (51 one-shots). “12th and Vine” also includes 41 one-shots of Wurlitzer, and electric piano. We also employed vintage analog synthesizers by Moog and Crumar for that authentic “lofi” touch. To complete the package, we recorded live drums (as well as one-shots) through Neve and Universal Audio preamps for retro thickness and color.

The 25th Hour (real name Andrew Gowie) is a GRAMMY-nominated multi-instrumental artist and producer who's worked with Drake (on "Emotionless") and K. Forest, among others. About this pack, Gowie shared, "This pack is the culmination of sessions and ideas I’ve been a part of from around the world. From sessions back home in Toronto, studios in LA, Berlin, London. Inspiration from trips of reflection, from South Africa to Italy to Costa Rica. I think it translated to the ideas being versatile. I took inspiration from cultures close to me. My European-Jamaican heritage." He added, "The Concept for this pack is to reinterpret some of the fundamental hardware and organic sounds of early electronic genres and the music it was sampled from (Detroit acid, garage, deep house, French house, Afrobeat). How elements from R&B, soul, break beats, funk, disco, dub were sampled and reformed to create new genres, from the creation of the first at home synthesizers and samplers. I recreated the vibe of sampling with original compositions and sounds. I wanted to create a dirty warm palette of sounds that would have an off the mpc3000, sp12, reel-to-reel tape and tube saturation aesthetic while keeping the sounds timeless enough to be used in a variety of genres. I want this to inspire creativity. The way that a house record gets sampled into the biggest hip hop record one day, and the next the biggest pop artists are collaborating with the biggest hip hop producers. Genres are blurred more than ever. I hope this collection of music represents that. A soundtrack of ideas the way were all intertwined in the city."
