Late Nights: Trap RnB
On the outskirts of the French Quarter in New Orleans, Frenchman Street is known for its live music inside bars and on the streets. As the city opened back up after the first COVID-19 shutdown, Ray Luminais (who created our Voodoo - Southern Trap pack) took a trip down to Frenchman Street and listened to the street corner performers to gather some inspiration. Using a Fender Stratocaster and a Yamaha YSD 150 electric saxophone, he combined that inspiration with the influence of Rod Wave, Bryson Tiller, and Polo G to form Late Nights.

Erick Bardales is a Honduran American music producer and audio engineer based in New Orleans, LA. He forms part of Morton Records and The Echo Team and has produced, recorded, and/or mixed records for some of the best artists in the industry such as G-Eazy, DMX, Yasiin Bey aka Mos Deff, Mannie Fresh, Lil Wayne, and many more. Cobra Drumline
Many producers, especially in hip hop, get their start in their high school drumline or marching band. It’s a natural progression from a clear draw towards energetic sounds, movement, and collaboration. Splice Originals’ Cobra Drumline pack nods to the rich and complex history of the drumline while celebrating the artform’s modernization and use in music production today. We partnered with the Harlem-based Marching Cobras to produce a unique mix of drumline loops using a stripped-down, seven-piece drumline with all the classic components: a bass drum, quad, tenor, two snares, and a cymbal. We then achieved a larger drumline sound through the use of overdubs. These sounds will add a sense of serendipity, consonance, and harmony to your beats with an extra jolt of energy.

Koto with Sumie Kaneko
Sumie (Sumi-é) Kaneko creates music that spans a millennium as a master in the traditional repertoire of the ancient instrument, koto. She also pioneered the use of the koto in jazz and experimental music through solo and group performances worldwide. She’s collaborated with artists such as Pulitzer Winner Paula Vogel, Gamelan Galak Tika’s Evan Zyporyn, RONIN's Nik Bärtsch, taiko artist Kenny Endo, Kaoru Watanabe, and gidayu-shamisen virtuoso Yumiko Tanaka. The koto is the national instrument of Japan. It has 13 strings that are usually strung over 13 movable bridges along the width of the instrument. The strings are plucked with three fingers and the bridges can be moved for varying pitches. The resulting sounds are both whimsical and grounded; airy and earthly, adding unique movement to any production.

Transport yourself back in time with Origin Sound's "Daydreaming". A lush and natural sounding pack of crisp, jazzy samples, perfect for all styles of hip hop and soul. Start by inspecting the folder of music loops. Including 10 warm bass loops; 12 diverse and airy chord loops which utilise various electric piano, Wurlis and pianos; and 21 ethereal melodic loops, ranging from soulful saxophones to retro, humming synths. The ideal compliment to the music loops can be found in our folder of drum hits, where we have rendered out over 61 individual hits to program into your song. Our 15 kicks and 15 snares contain tight, punchy transients and a subtle warm high end, to retain the vintage feel while still having a clean mix. Empire: Hard Brass Stacks explores the gritty, dark and vintage side of live recorded and resampled brass instruments. Expect explosive brass stabs, epic swells and vintage style intros and themes. Created in collaboration with Arthouse Acoustics, we recorded pro session musicians and selected our favourite performances to process, mix and layer. Full songstarters with additional guitar, bass guitar and keys expand the collection and provide unique inspiration. As always we took it a step further, resampling and chopping the brass recordings to create a selection of gritty themes, classic brass intros, and unique stacked songstarters. All of the sounds are 100% royalty free and every loop has been meticulously key-tagged and tempo-synced. Perfect for hip-hop, trap, and rap but just as well suited to house, reggae and sound for film.

echo glen, a bio moment
Ohio-based sound designer, technical artist, and developer bio has a knack for pseudo-natural sounds. Purveyor of scene-staple sample packs, frequent collaborator of Moment-alums tracey brakes and DJ Re:Code, and treasured resident of online music-community goop house, bio has an elemental sound omnipresent in the internet music ecosystem. Bio’s specialization in imitation of natural and tactile sounds using off-the-wall synthesis sets her apart from her peers: rather than larger-than-life, abrasive textures, bio’s sights are set toward the little things. ‘echo glen’ is a haven lost to time, swallowed by overgrown flora. You may find microscopic melodies, the calls of friendly creatures, or the loose percussive grooves of insect chatter. Foraged from living material and transcribed precisely with synthetic tools, the sonic result is the unpredictability of nature distilled into digital perfection.In an unpublished excerpt based on her time in echo glen, bio writes: "The stone, whose ornate carvings now pressed into her skin, shone a pale grey against the damp moss and undergrowth about this place. A din of scintillating calls and songs and stridulating animated the moist air; she thought, perhaps in lieu of some expected stillness, it was strange not to feel like a visitor, but more like a voyeur. She looked to the stone, it stared back blankly and the angel wondered if being forgotten needed somebody to do the forgetting."
Classic Jungle Breaks by Ned Haweeli
A drumming legend in the making, Ned Haweeli brings his first drum sample pack to Splice. Ned delivers a collection of raw, free-from-heavy-processing, Jungle/D&B inspired breaks recorded in his studio in Brooklyn, New York.Notes from Ned:The idea behind this pack is to offer producers a variety of classic Jungle/Drum & Bass breaks. They were recorded on an acoustic kit and played by myself. Various kit tunings were applied to achieve the different sounds from the original Jungle era and different production styles to round out the pack as Jungle and Drum & Bass compatible. We also ran some of the breaks through various analogue outboard gear to get distinct sounds. We wanted to create drum loop samples free from heavy processing such as distortion, compression, EQ etc.

We’ve had so many requests for Psytrance over the past few months that we had no choice but to step up. First on the list is ‘Spiral - Psytrance’, a blistering collection of supreme Psy sounds, loops, drum hits, one shots, and drum sounds that will blow your socks off. Curating his own unique sound, Avan 7 delves deep within his studio unleashing a Psytrance sample pack that will be on every Psytrance producers wishlist once word has spread. In total there’s 2.4GB of content ready to be used. Think along the lines of labels including Digital Om, Iboga and Homnega to get an insight into the direction of these sounds. One of the unique playing cards of ‘Spiral - Psytrance’ is the flexibility it delivers, not only does it supply the individual parts of every full mix loop but also a totally new section of separate loops designed to inspire entirely new concepts with just a little helping hand in the right direction.
Palestinian Roots with Zafer Tawil
Jerusalem-born and Brooklyn-based Zafer Tawil is an accomplished Palestinian musician who specializes in the oud, ney, vocals, violin, qanun, and Arabic percussion. Tawil performs worldwide and holds workshops in the oud technique and Arabic music theory. He’s continuously exploring the boundaries of Arabic music and has worked collaboratively on many concerts involving classical Indian and Persian music, as well as jazz fusion. For this pack, Tawil recorded the sounds of the oud, qanun, violin, dumbek, riq, ney, and frame drum. He layered multiple instruments and percussion together to create stacks of Arabic compositions. The result is a stunning compilation of the unique and shimmering sounds of Palestine with loops ranging from low to high BPM, as well as one-shots for total customization in your productions.
Cicadas: Acoustic Serenades
Made in partnership with Arthouse Acoustics, Cicadas is a collection of acoustic guitar samples, ranging from classical Spanish and Italian nylon-string to modern steel-string strums and picks. We also included resampled loops ready to be dropped into any modern trap or hip hop production. That's not all. To create depth and variety of tone, this pack features other instruments such as banjo plucks, electric/baritone guitar, and ukulele. If you've never heard the sound of the cicada, an insect known to tropical climates, its song is that of warm, carefree summer nights. In 2019, dwilly joined GRiZ on his US tour, opened for Zedd at Red Rocks, and signed with Big Beat/Atlantic. Aside from his own music, dwilly has also produced records for artists like Mike Posner and Ty Dolla $ign. "Having cooked up quite the sonic formula" (Hillydilly), dwilly has built notoriety as a producer and become well-known for his unique approach to sound design with three top-five Splice sound libraries.
