Coastal Vibes Reggaeton with El Dusty
El Dusty is the latest project from Corpus Christi-based producer, Dusty Oliveira. Operating behind the mixer and console, he’s considered by some to be the inventor of cumbia electronica. What Lee Scratch Perry is to reggae, Dusty is to cumbia. A composer, arranger, and ringmaster, Oliveira reinterprets the principals of the Jamaican sound systems of the 1970s, mashing grimey, electro bass sounds together. In his live performances, he invites a panoply of MCs, singers, musicians, and other DJs to join the stage. As a nu-cumbia pioneer, El Dusty translates the Southern Texas border experience into new barrio anthems where the MPC2000 sampler and chopped clips of Latin music history collide. Set to drop on September 18th, his Trapanera EP marks the first of his collaborative projects since signing with Universal Records’ new division AfterCluv. It showcases a turntablist tradition that links Latin classics with the new generation of bass-heavy soundsystem and hip hop cultures. Trapanera EP is a true showcasing of El Dusty’s bi-cultural border identity and the cumbia crunk movement that he’s found a home in.

Middle East Essentials - Bows
The Middle East Essentials series by Gio Israel sets the goal of capturing diverse, high-quality, and unique musical material. Making ancient music, sounds and instruments accessible through state-of-the-art sound sampling. Bows have a special role in Middle Eastern music, more traditionally, the Kamanche with its iconic heart breaking sound. An ancestor of the violin, the Kamanche is played in a seated position on the musician’s leg and is common to Persian and Turkish music found throughout Central Asia. More recent is the violin, which made its way to the Middle East and north Africa from Europe. It’s high pitch and the fact it can play Eastern (Maqam) scales gave it a special place in modern Middle Eastern music. For this pack we recorded masters Yagel Haroush on the Kamanche and maestro Gilad Hazan on the violin.

For Splice Originals: Dark Cities, producer Ray Luminais looked to artists like NAV, Juice WRLD, and Jack Harlow for inspiration. Working out of The Plug Studios in Covington, LA, Ray resampled melodies he created through the Arturia V8 Collection, Korg Series Collection, and The Prince. He cooked up some essentials for your library: hypnotic song starters, plus catchy melodic and drum loops.To get the texture and saturation he was looking for in this pack, he used Cassette by Wavesfactory, Super VHS by Baby Audio, and Arturia Tape Mello-Fi. To get those hard-hitting 808s and drums just right, he employed a combination of KNOCK by DECAP, Cymatics' Diablo, and Sausage Fattener by Dada Life. Final loops and one-shots were processed through the Apollo x8 and Manley VOXBOX. Overall, this is one pack any creator would love to have in their arsenal.

This pack was influenced by the late 1960s/early '70s Southern California country rock pioneers like Buffalo Springfield, Allman Brothers Band, and Gram Parsons. These sounds capture the 'back to basics' style employed to bridge the gap and blur the lines between rock & roll and good 'ole country, adding some twang to rock and edge to country. That means pedal steel (the most characteristic instrument of country rock), electric guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, keys, drums, and more. This pack was crafted by Josh Frigo, a cellist, guitarist, and keyboardist specializing in pop and alternative music. He has produced songs for "The Voice's" Phùng Khánh Linh, Dove GMA Award Nominee John Tibbs, and more.
Flutes of Japan with Kaoru Watanabe
As a follow up to Kaoru Watanabe’s Japanese Percussion pack, he returns to Splice sharing with all of us the mystic sounds of Japanese flutes. After spending a decade in Japan studying Japanese percussion and flutes and a grueling two-year apprenticeship, he became a member of the internationally acclaimed Taiko Performing Arts Ensemble Kodo. This experience led to a life of traveling the world playing these beautiful instruments and performing in esteemed venues like Carnegie Hall. This pack was recorded at the Kaoru Watanabe Taiko Center in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, and features the sounds of a wide range of bamboo flutes played in traditional and contemporary styles.
