909 From Mars

The introduction of the 909 in 1984 transformed the landscape of electronic dance music permanently. Every voice on this drum machine is a classic - instantly recognizable, and deeply nostalgic yet increasingly relevant in today's music.

If you’re after raw, banging 909 samples, look no further. We recorded two different 909 drum machines through an analog console, 1/4” tape and a variety of outboard gear. Included in 909 From Mars are 409 one-shots and 500 loops, totaling 909 samples. 

The one-shots range from clean (direct from source with no processing), to tape, to heavily processed. For the loops, we believe there’s a magic that happens when programming on the internal step sequencer, turning knobs, and embracing the limitations of a machine. We captured this magic on the 909, while also running the loops through some serious outboard gear and creative processing along the way.
