Data Pollen, an sv1 moment

sv1 is a Texas-based experimental producer, sound designer and educator. He has worked with S280F, L.cie, Ssilica, Kai Whiston and Kavari, created multiple educational courses and tools with Lux Cache, and worked with Splice Explores on the 2021 pack ‘Vocoder Vapors’.

An established expert in organic, immersive audio textures, his 2021 album ‘health’ carried over this skill set into a more melodic, pop instrumental context. ‘Data Pollen’, the Curiosity Shop member’s airy new sample collection, uses custom-built software to create high tech drum hits, serene synth melodies, and watery, yet clear sound effects ready for pop and rap production with a sharp, crystalline edge.

“In this pack I wanted to include usable, song-ready sounds that toe the line of experimental and conventional,” sv1 tells us. “Many of the FX and drums are cut from my latest album ‘health’, and were generated using custom low level tools I wrote in Max MSP. I wanted to try and recreate a lot of the classic rap sounds that you find in almost every kit shared around the internet, that way I’d be able to put my own twist on them at the source.”
