Amapiano
Amapiano has been flooding the streets of West and South Africa for the last decade and is soon to be declared an international treasure. Prepare yourself to be mesmerized by the log drum’s raw bassline and heavy kick drum taking you to a place you never thought existed. Genuine piano melodies and low tempo 90’s house rhythms will make you wanna moooove. Staying true to the genre is important to us, so we brought on West African producer, Fantastic, to bring authentic sound to this glorious Audeobox pack. It's feel-good jazz, it’s crazy house music… nah, it’s amapiano.
West African Amapiano
Producer Ismaila Talla, aka ISS 814, returns to Splice Originals with a West African spin on the Amapiano genre. Characterized by a fusion of deep house, jazz, Kwaito, and Afrobeat elements, “Amapiano” loosely translates to “the pianos” in Zulu. This pack contains a lot of the shaker and log drum sounds used to craft the Zulu rhythms known to Amapiano music with some added melodic elements that push it towards Afrobeats styles from Nigeria and Senegal.

Amapiano Revolution
For our New Amapiano pack our in-house producers teamed up with a variety of musicians, including two percussionists and a singer all of whom have experience with different styles, but especially the Afrobeats, Amapiano, and Afro house music genres.The percussion experts, who both graduated cum laude from the Strasbourg Conservatory and played with countless artists around the world, recorded the percussion instruments in their own studios, using equipment such as RME Fireface, Apollo X8, Scarlett Focusrite, Shure SM57, Shure Beta 52A, and Shure PGA27.With a thorough understanding of African rhythms and years of experience playing and recording in a variety of genres, all bongos, congas, shakers, cabasa, tablas, and other percussion instruments were played and recorded with passion and further processed at our Audentity Records studio into usable and powerful percussion sounds, while the drum sounds were created by a special layering of the percussion recordings and new synthetic drums or synthetic sounds only, ensuring that each element perfectly matches the Amapiano style. Amapiano music has become synonymous with the modern day South African dance and electronic music scene. These infectious afrobeat grooves found their roots in the Soweto township of Johannesburg, South Africa which is also home to the genre's predecessor Kwaito music. An eclectic mix of deep house, jazz, afrobeats, hip hop, and soul music, Amapiano places itself firmly rooted in sounds of the past while steadily pushing towards the future. Over the past few years the genre has migrated from bedroom studios to clubs around South Africa and now the world. Amapiano has crossed borders to reach our ears thanks to a worldwide hit: “Jerusalema”. A trend with many facets and a rich history, the genre is made for dancing and is among one of the latest innovations in electronic music. After seducing the South African hip-hop scene, the style conquered one of the greatest bastions of popular music in Africa: Nigeria, and its superstars Burna Boy and Wizkid. Amapiano is quickly becoming a global sound. In this pack you’ll find dark crackling bass lines, jerky percussion, and captivating synthesizer loops. Pop Amapiano
After being incubated in the South African underground for years, Amapiano is pop music that burst into the global cultural zeitgeist in the early 2020s. Smooth piano melodies, deep bass, and Zulu rhythms from shakers and drums all blend into an enchanting, euphoric wave of sound. Best known for producing Tyla's Grammy Award-winning single "Getting Late", this pack was crafted by 25-year-old Zimbabwean-born producer Kooldrink, also known as the founder of Pop-Piano and for his work with Diplo, Masego, Heavy-K, and more.

YANOS, a sample pack inspired by the deep grooves and contagious energy of Amapiano. From essential log bass and shuffled percussion to progressive synth pads and hypnotic songstarters.Evolving synth stabs and mellow chords drift above foundations of deep kicks, bouncy log drum basslines and organic percussion. Subtle keys, guitar and piano chords weave around the patient rhythms.Originated in South Africa in the late 2010s Amapiano is a fusion of house music and kwaito incorporating traditional South African sounds and instrumentation, such as the marabi and gqom, alongside contemporary electronic music and progressive house motifs.

TRAKTRAIN is proud to present the new "Amapiano Jams" Sample Pack created by one of the Splice's top-trending producer - Fantastic. 200 high-quality samples of Amapiano Loops & One-Shots including a huge variety of drums, basses, melodies, song starters, and vocal loops along with different one-shot parts, such as brass, log drums, vocal shouts, and more.When we talk about Amapiano in Senegal, Fantastic becomes the precursor that launched this wave in West Africa. The Senegalese producer is very noted for his creativity and ingenuity. In 2022, he composed the opus Mbaraj for the Senegalese artist Samba Peuzzi, which earned him two nominations in the "Best Producer of the Year" category. After producing the first 100% Amapiano pack on Splice, he entered the charts Top 23 of the best Splice sounds in 2023. This time, he comes back to us with the Amapiano Jams pack, which results from a sharp work in creating the breathtaking Amapiano sounds.
Amapiano Origins
Translating from Zulu to "the pianos,” Amapiano is the latest in an array of underground electronic music movements from South Africa to cross over to the mainstream in recent years. The genre’s iconic log drum (or synthesized sub bass resembling the acoustic instrument) has traversed the world’s dance floors countless times over the past two summers. Without further ado, Rubicon travels to the origins of Amapiano to shine a light on Teno Afrika, one of the genre’s preeminent producers. His 2020 Amapiano Selections LP is a cult classic and we are grateful to host his premiere sample collection offering on Rubicon.
