Noise Requiem, a KAVARI moment
KAVARI is an artist, producer, and DJ based in Glasgow, Scotland, known for her high-contrast productions and performances that fuse industrial, ambient, club, and pop into her own twisted sound. She received a nomination for 'Best Electronic' Artist at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards in 2021 and has performed at some of the most popular venues across the country, earning a reputation as one of the Scottish underground music sceneβs rising stars.βNoise Requiemβ is an invitation into KAVARIβs distinctive realm of sound, a realm best described in the artistβs own words, which we found engraved on a mossy headstone:βI like my sounds to come across like they have a setting. A bass being played from a blown out broken speaker in the basement of an abandoned mansion, a pad that's coming from an instrument that belonged to a long lost forest dwelling civilisation made from an unknown material that enchants the listener, percussion that sounds like the guttural roar of a folklore-esque creature that lurks the wildness in the dead of night. Haunting, heavy, broken, blissful, unsettling, but also with an odd sense of comfort. I wanted this pack to be a bundle of these imaginary settings. A requiem for sonic corruption in its rawest form.β

#880808, a Blood of Aza moment
Blood of Aza is a leftfield producer and DJ based in London whoβs risen to cult status in the post-club scene over the past few years through a series of wave-making singles and gut renovations of pop tracks pushed beyond recognition, garnering support from pioneers like Aphex Twin and labels such as Soul Feeder and Safe Cloud Records. Her latest release βEMBERβ once again challenges the expected format as an album-length all-original mix.β#880808β captures a slice of that same speaker tearing sound design of Blood of Azaβs blood red world. Drenched in distortion, resonant implosions and soul-crushing bass damage meet moments of pensive ambience amidst the wreckage. While sorted into kicks, snares, loops, and so on, the sounds often refuse singular definitions and become interchangeable texture ammunition: snares full of sub and basses bordering on harsh noise, all heavily compressed never to dip below the maximum volume. ββββββββββββ βββββββ ββββββ, Aza told us about the process behind the pack. βββββββ ββββββββββββ βββββββ βββββββββββββββββββ.β Weβd like to remind readers that our creators' views are wholly their own and not necessarily shared by Momentβs editorial staff.
