Japanese Percussion with Kaoru Watanabe
Kaoru Watanabe is a Brooklyn-based composer and musician, specializing in Japanese percussion and shinobue flutes. He has spent decades artfully blending the sounds of Japanese instruments with others from around the world. He’s collaborated with such artists as National Living Treasure Bando Tamasaburo, Jason Moran, So Percussion, Adam Rudolph, Kenny Endo, Stefon Harris, Kiyohiko Semba, Alicia Hall Moran, Tamango, calligrapher Kakinuma Koji, visual artist Simone Leigh, and director Martin Scorsese. He was a featured guest on Yo-Yo Ma's Grammy Award-winning album Sing Me Home. For this Originals session, Watanabe brought taiko drums and a wide selection of other Japanese percussion instruments to create a diverse range of sounds. We recorded his performances in both the traditional Japanese style and his newer style of playing taiko, which is more like a percussion cage. The resulting sounds are rhythms primed for any R&B, chill, hip hop, downtempo, jazz, trip hop, or any type of production you’re inspired to make.
Tribal & African Percussion
Bringing a human element into electronically produced music can really add a special quality and groove that is otherwise hard to obtain by sequencing samples. Tribal & African percussion features nearly 300 percussion loops & one shots, recorded live and played by a skilled percussionist. Layer these grooves into your tracks and watch them come alive, or slice up the rhythms to create entirely new grooves. One shots from all of the loops have been provided as well so if you prefer to sequence your own beats on an MPC, Maschine, or your own DAW then all the sounds are ready to go. The samples are ideal for a producer who wants to bring the African & Cumbia vibe into their tracks. The loops have been recorded at various different tempos so you can use these sounds in many different genres, including many different forms of EDM. Leading artists such as Major Lazer have been continuously mixing their EDM craft with Latin & African samples so we encourage users to experiment with the samples and think outside the box when using these sounds. Producers of genres such as house, trap, and techno will soon find this may just be that secret weapon in their arsenal. The rhythms act as starting point to achieve complex grooves, try shifting around where the 1 beat lands on these grooves to watch entirely rhythms appear!
Afro Cuban Percussion with Elizabeth Pupo Walker
This is the first in a series of sessions we recorded at Red Bull Studios NYC. Afro Cuban percussion provides some of the most emotive and dynamic sounds known. The way intricate grooves and upbeat dance rhythms meld and blend through its signature polyrhythmic drumming will get anyone on the dancefloor. Renowned Afro Cuban percussionist Elizabeth Pupo Walker shared her talents, history, and passions for the genre in crafting this pack. Dig into congas, bongos, cahon, and other Afro Cuban percussion one-shots and loops. Pupo Walker studied in Havana, Cuba at Conjunto Folklorico Nacional de Cuba and in Matanzas, Cuba with the world-renown percussion ensemble Los Munequitos de Matanzas. She has sought out specific instructors throughout her career, delving into the drumming dialects of Brazilian Batucada and Carribean rhythms of the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and more. She formed the eclectic percussive jazz group, Manah in Seattle; recorded and toured with the band BRAD, featuring members of Pearl Jam; and performed regularly with Reggie Watts. She’s been featured in DRUM! Magazine, toured internationally, and has performed and recorded with a wide variety of artists including Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, John Legend, Mark Ronson, Dr. Lonnie Smith, TV On the Radio, The Roots, Nels Cline, Meshell Ndegeocello, Lee Fields and The Expressions, Mavis Staples, among several others.
Criolla Latin Percussion
New Orleans-based producer Erick Bardales teamed up with percussionist Manuel “Manotas” Ramirez to offer up classic salsa rhythms with a modern twist. Using a Looptrotter Emperor Limiter, Elysia Xfilter EQ, and Retro 176, they applied modern processing and sound design while maintaining the integrity of traditional salsa instruments. Guaranteed to add some heat, we hope these energizing sounds find a home in your productions. This pack was recorded remotely with Ramirez in Tennessee and Bardales at his New Orleans studio using TeamViewer and Listento by Audiomovers.
Drumline
Tight marching snares, pitched tonal basses, quads, hand cymbals, and everything else you need to bring the drum corps to your next studio session. The search for drum corps samples and loops is over. Let’s be clear. This pack isn’t just for the intro to your favorite college football show. No, no. Drumline was created for music producers to layer and compose with the punchy, determined articulation of a real drum corps. This library gives hip hop and pop producers ammunition to “up” the energy level of their tracks. We put in long hours with seven-time world champions, the Music City Mystique. And we came away with a collection of multi-velocity samples, mixed naturally and with great width. It feels like you're standing in the room with a real drum corps. Inside, you’ll find live performances recorded both in groups and as separate parts (bass, snare, tenor snare, cymbals). Mix-and-match these parts to create endless combinations of your own unique drumline loops.
Organic Percussion
Nothing takes a nice groove and gives it depth like good percussion. So why then are good percussion samples and loops so hard to come by? Most of the existing percussion sample libraries only highlight a few instruments and they all sound pretty lifeless. If you’re gonna spend hard-earned cash on stale tambourines and shakers, why not just play and record them yourself? Well, that’s exactly what we did. Organic Percussion is the last percussion sample and loop library you’ll ever need. And there’s no one better we could’ve teamed up with than legendary percussionist, Eric Darken. Eric’s body of work is as thorough as they come. Taylor Swift, James Bay, Keith Urban, Bob Segar, Carrie Underwood, and Shirley Caesar are just a fraction of the names within this endless resume. We could tell you about the 200 plus one-shot samples, but the highlight of this library is most certainly the loops. Nearly 1500 individual loops in a variety of grooves, feels, accents, subdivisions, and tempos. Add this library to your cart and put your tambourine back on the shelf.

Werthwhile Breaks with Nate Werth
We teamed up with Grammy-Award winning percussionist Nate Werth to record his eclectic collection of percussive objects. Nate built his career by fusing traditional and non-traditional percussion instruments to transmit his roundhouse-punch polyrhythms and teeth-chattering grooves, which earned him collaborations with artists from every genre and generation you’d imagine, and many you wouldn’t (Snarky Puppy, Q-Tip, and David Crosby in the same breath). He brings this same curiosity and skill to his explorations and performance for Splice, playing everything from African frame drums adorned with shimmering, ornamental rings to brass elephant bells from India. We captured everything at Atlantic Studios in Brooklyn with an array of different mics running through Neve 1073 pre-amps, then chopped the recordings into this collection of hypnotic loops and one-shots. Stylistically, this pack is agnostic, containing both pin-drop and heart-pounding percussion. Use it on anything that requires labyrinthine rhythms and dust-shaking drum breaks, from ambient to anger-core.

Organic Percussion Elements
Performed by world-class session musician Chris Wells, this extensive percussion loops pack covers a huge amount of ground. From classic soft shakers to the rhythmically complex and inspired Cajon loops, each sample just oozes class. When creating percussion patterns the opportunity to develop your ideas and layer sounds can be integral. With this in mind, we've included a combination of rhythmically simple loops that once placed against other samples become complex and interwoven. It's these small beat divisions that lift your drums from the mundane to the inspired, showcasing new levels of swing and groove that can so often be lacking in programmed material. Continuing this mantra of initial simplicity, you'll find 5 tempos ranging from 60-120 bpm, meaning double-time options as well as preventing too much warping has been covered. We've also ensured each tempo has a range of timbres from the glossy, high-frequency shakers to the more low mid rich Cajon loops, the transient strong bell loops and the rustley, organic Shakere, whatever your need we've got you covered. So, if you're looking to add some organic percussion to your palette then look no further, this one will slot beautifully into your tracks and add rhythmic class you never realised you were even missing.
