Ovy On The Drums - also known as Daniel Oviedo - is a Colombian hitmaker, music producer, songwriter, and performer. He's produced for international stars such as Puerto Rican singers Anuel AA, Myke Towers and Ozuna, Argentine singer Paulo Londra and Colombian reggaeton artist Karol G—a collaboration that put his work on the map. Ovy was also named one of the Billboard’s Top 10 Latin Producers of 2021. He produced Karol G's hit single "Tusa" ft. Nicki Minaj, which was nominated for both Record of The Year and Song of The Year in the 2020 Latin GRAMMY Awards. He also produced Karol G’s Unstoppable album, which reached #2 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums Chart and Latin Rhythms Albums Chart. TAIKO Essentials Sample Pack
Grammy-nominated music producer Taiko (Nicolás Jaña ) was born in Buin, Santiago de Chile. He started making beats at the age of 15, reaching the ears of Black Koi Ent.'s Sky Rompiendo in 2019 through Instagram. Later, Rompiendo invited him to join the label. Taiko's sounds now appear on Bad Bunny’s “Una Vez” featuring Mora, Jhay Cortez’s “Easy”, and J Balvin’s “Rojo”.By age 11, after hearing reggaeton throughout his youth on the streets of Chile, on the radio, and on TV, Taiko decided he wanted to be a DJ. He started mixing in Virtual DJ, and about two years later, he downloaded FL Studio and made his first beats.However, Taiko has never focused on just one genre. His productions are built on three main pillars: minimalism, texture, and atmosphere. When he does incorporate reggaeton, he usually starts with a melody designed to transport you to another place and then layers on a reggaeton bassline to define the rhythm. He also likes to use the classic drums of the genre, modernizing them with different processing techniques.You'll hear these elements and more throughout Taiko's first-ever Splice pack. Sonidero: Cumbia Reggaeton
Produced by Honduran American musician Erick Bardales in Los Angeles, CA, this Splice Originals collection explores the connections between various genres of Latin music with a strong focus on Mexican cumbia reggaeton. This pack was performed and recorded remotely by Tegucigalpa, Honduras-based composer and producer Jorge Ulloa on guitar and piano, and Nashville, TN-based Venezuelan percussionist Manuel “Manotas” Ramirez on gon bops along with engineer Gibran Sponchiado. The three musicians blended their love for vallenato - a genre of popular Colombian folk music - with Mexican cumbia and modern reggaeton pop to craft an authentic entry point for producers interested in creating cumbia reggaeton music. This pack was recorded using a wide variety of instruments from acoustic instruments like a Taylor GS Mini E Rosewood and a Les Paul Epiphone Ukulele to electric guitars such as a Fender Telecaster 1978 Sunburst and Gibson SG, plus Ramirez’s gon bops. The performed samples were processed using an Apollo X4, Universal Audio’s analog emulation UAD plugins, Ableton live 11, Plugin Alliance plugins, and Output Thermal.
El Paisa: Tropical Reggaeton
For Splice Originals: El Paisa - Tropical Reggaeton, Honduran producer Erick Bardales and LA-based musician Ben Kahn were inspired by the reggaeton pop sound that’s been taking over the airwaves since the release of “Despacito”. They pulled from South American and Central American influences with a strong focus on Colombian music. You’ll find reggaeton standbys like the Dembow loop and bomba influences mixed with electric guitar, ukelele, Latin percussion - such as cumbia, Afro-Honduran, and Panamanian dance rhythms - and synths, including Astra by Splice.

Erick crafted these drums by tweaking old DMX drum machine samples through UAD Oxide Tape, Oxford Inflator, and McDSP plugins using virtual instruments to create the textural melodies. Then he ran various elements through Output Thermal and Black Box to create rich, saturated atmospheres.Erick Bardales is a Honduran-American music producer and audio engineer based in Los Angeles. In addition to producing several Splice Originals releases, he has produced, recorded, and mixed records for artists such as Ambré, G Eazy, Lil Wayne, Mannie Fresh, Mos Def, and many more.

El Dusty is the latest project from Corpus Christi-based producer, Dusty Oliveira. Operating behind the mixer and console, he’s considered by some to be the inventor of cumbia electronica. What Lee Scratch Perry is to reggae, Dusty is to cumbia. A composer, arranger, and ringmaster, Oliveira reinterprets the principals of the Jamaican sound systems of the 1970s, mashing grimey, electro bass sounds together. In his live performances, he invites a panoply of MCs, singers, musicians, and other DJs to join the stage. As a nu-cumbia pioneer, El Dusty translates the Southern Texas border experience into new barrio anthems where the MPC2000 sampler and chopped clips of Latin music history collide. Set to drop on September 18th, his Trapanera EP marks the first of his collaborative projects since signing with Universal Records’ new division AfterCluv. It showcases a turntablist tradition that links Latin classics with the new generation of bass-heavy soundsystem and hip hop cultures. Trapanera EP is a true showcasing of El Dusty’s bi-cultural border identity and the cumbia crunk movement that he’s found a home in.
