Different Cities
Music producer Ray Luminais (Lil Wayne, Boosie, Ambre) returns with his second Splice originals release, following the success of Voodoo: Southern Trap. The sounds found in Different Cities were highly influenced by the What a Time to Be Alive Mixtape by Drake and Future and by the beats of Boi-1da and 40 (Noah James Shebib). Inspired by the artists who incorporate various unique styles into one body of work, Ray says this pack feels like traveling through different cities. Discover thumping 808s, ambient sounds filled with surprises, signature vocals, melodic stacks, top loops for trap beats, and more. To create these samples, Ray used a Korg Triton and Arturia Piano V2, along with Dada Life’s Endless Smile and Sausage Fattener plugins, HalfTime by Cableguys, and Warm Audio’s WA273.
Rare Rhythm Boxes
Famous and studio-familiar drum machines like the 707 and 808 are legendary, but wouldn’t have come to be without some percussive precursors like the Acetone FR6, the Korg Minipops SR120, and the Wurlitzer Swinging Rhythm. Audio Imperia's “Artifact Fractal“ is the first instrument in our new “Artifact” signature series. All of the products in the series are produced by composer Valentin Boomes, who is renowned for his industrial, gritty and instantly recognizable trailer music style. Chop Shop: Vintage Soul Stacks
Chop Shop: Vintage Soul Stacks pays tribute to the nostalgic sounds of cinematic soul music and vintage rhythm & blues. Created in collaboration with Arthouse Acoustics, we recorded vintage electric guitar, live pianos, a horn section, orchestral arrangements and gospel inspired vocals with true-to-era microphones, recording techniques and post production. Many of the greatest samples in hip-hop history are lifted from classic records of this era and the soulful motifs, recording techniques and instrumentation choices echo on to this day. The compositional process took influence from genre defining, legendary artists and groups of the late 60s and early 70s including Sam Cooke, Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick, Minnie Riperton and The Delfonics. The Arthouse Acoustics team worked with professional musicians to compose and arrange full song sections and ideas. These ‘stacks’ are included as full mixed compositions, intro sections and solo’d instrumental layers for full flexibility. We also included a collection of one shot ‘stabs and hits’ featuring bass guitar, vocals and guitar licks. We studied the work of producers, engineers and labels of the time to give more insight into the recording and mixing techniques used. A combination of DI, ribbon mics and vintage Neumann condensers were used on every instrument with valve preamp warmth. Where possible, spring and plate reverbs added 70s colour and feel. A strict selection of limited post production tools were consciously employed including hard stereo panning, vocal multi tracking, tape saturation and compression and re amping via vintage guitar pedals. All the sounds are 100% royalty-free and every loop has been carefully key tagged and tempo-synced.
Memory Palace: Bedroom Pop
Harnessing the bedroom pop ethos of making the most of what you have, multi-instrumentalist and sound designer Ben Bromley channeled his inner 1990s pre-teen. He sampled a late 1980s Yamaha PSS synth that used the Yamaha YM3812 chip (the first chip to make FM synthesis affordable to the masses) and built Serum presets with its wavetables. With this starting point, the pack builds on 20 years of homebrew music history from the mid-90s hip hop and dream pop through millennial indie and vaporwave. It includes a meticulously crafted set of home percussion samples and selects from his dusty old hard drive. The results offer everything you’d want from synthwave, indie rock, lo-fi beats, and bedroom pop. Inspired by the likes of Tycho, Teendaze, My Bloody Valentine, Cocteau Twins, and Mac Demarco, these sounds are nostalgic while offering a unique perspective with a modern feel.

Braxton Cook's musical influence and influences on music are almost as interchangeable as his gifts. He can summon John Coltrane and Frank Ocean within the same 4-bar phrase, his saxophone, voice, and keys sliding effortlessly between soul and jazz and cosmic R&B. A graduate of Juilliard, Cook's skills on the saxophone and polymath perspective give him an inimitable sound. That sound has garnered him respect from his contemporaries, as well as a spot on a Grammy-nominated record with trumpeter Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, tours with Tom Misch, collaborations with Mac Ayres, and a feature on NPR's Tiny Desk series. He has his own thing to say the least, and we recorded that thing faithfully. He put his saxophone through the paces, then pulled out a Prophet-8 and a Wulitzer and went wild. The resulting loops and one-shots of sax, synth, voice, and flute have a focus that goes well with in hip hop, neo-soul, R&B, jazz, or cinematic productions.

Childhood friends Chris Hartz (Childish Gambino) and Nick Paul (St. Lucia) grew up in Los Angeles. Beginning their careers as players, a drummer and a pianist respectively, they’ve both carved places in the music business as sought-after producers, music directors, and players. Coming from backgrounds of soul, jazz, and hip hop, it felt natural to create a pack for incorporating all of these elements while paying homage to their home state of California. The result is a collection of sounds reminiscent of the original soul sessions mixed with the production nuances of today. All of the samples are recorded through analog processing as well as to tape. These samples have soul heart with a laidback, chilled out vibe similar to Toro y Moi, Tame Impala, and Blood Orange.

Scottish music producer and indie game developer, hallow is a name that Soundcloud vets have seen between many a parenthesis. Known for their work producing for early digicore scene greats like Juno, twikipedia, funeral, yurms, and angelus. Like many of us, they were first moved to produce music in the early 10s after falling down the Youtube tutorial EDM pipeline, exposing themselves to the worlds of Monstercat, VGM, Skrillex, and Virtual Riot, and recently they have come back full circle.
