Bossa Nova: Sounds of Brazil
Bossa Nova: Sounds of Brazil explores this beloved genre born of the fusion of Samba and Jazz. The Acoustic Guitar is at the heart of Bossa Nova, so plenty of guitar sessions were recorded across the pack, performed by Andrés Levin and Jaxx Landry themselves. Andrés lived and worked in Brazil for more than 5 years, a timeframe in which he became a connoisseur of Brazilian musical styles. Bossa Nova’s early origins date back to the late 1950s, when a small group of mainly middle-class students, artists and musicians came together on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro to create a new sound. The most influential artists of this movement were João Gilberto, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Astrud Gilberto and Stan Getz, among others. Bossa Nova literally means "new trend" or "new wave" in Portuguese.Other instruments included are flute, french horn, pandeiro (brazilian tambourine), agogo, surdo, vocals, electric piano and Ubass (Ukulele Bass). Tempos range from 80bpm all the way to 170bpm. Drums and percussion were recorded by legendary Azymuth drummer Ivan “Conti” Mamao, who sadly passed away shortly after recording them. We would like to dedicate this pack to his memory and thank him for the great impact he made on Brazilian funk and fusion. Additional percussion was recorded by Cuban musician Yaroldi Abreu.

Future Soul II continues on from its predecessor, toeing the line between electronic and organic sonics. Recorded by Goel, Kaushlesh ‘Garry’ Purohit, and Splice’s Josh Robertson at a recycling yard in downtown Los Angeles, the pack features an eclectic mix of sounds originating from metal, plastic, and rubber sources. Dig into genre-bending loops and one-shots with sounds created using trash cans, broken cars, discarded PlayStations, rubber tires, and other items people deemed as waste that we saw as instruments.

Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Bryn Bliska is a producer, composer, and musician based in Brooklyn, NY. Her sound and skills merge a childhood soundtracked by 1990s pop and R&B jams with her jazz training and an affinity for technology. Summer Breaks: Vintage Soul Stacks
Summer Breaks: Vintage Soul Stacks pays tribute to classic soul motifs, nostalgic compositions and vintage rhythm & blues. Many of the most recognisable samples in hip-hop history sample records of this era and this collection channels those special moments when needle hits vinyl and reveals the perfect inspiration. Created in collaboration with Arthouse Acoustics, we recorded electric guitar, crisp live strings, smokey horns, upright pianos and electric keys, a horn section and live drums with true-to-era microphones, recording techniques and post production. The team worked with professional musicians to compose and arrange full song concepts and ideas. These ‘stacks’ are included as full studio compositions, ‘vintage masters’ and solo’d instrumental layers for full flexibility. We studied the work of producers, engineers and labels of the time to give more insight into the recording and mixing techniques used. A combination of DI, ribbon mics and vintage Neumann condensers were used on every instrument with valve preamp warmth. Where possible, spring and plate reverbs added 70s colour and feel. A strict selection of limited post production tools were consciously employed including hard stereo panning, vocal multi tracking, tape saturation and compression and re-amping via vintage guitar pedals. All the sounds are 100% royalty-free and every loop has been carefully key tagged and tempo-synced.
