Neo Soul
Neo Soul is a collection of over 300 loops across 22 tempos of super-contemporary drum grooves taking influence from the founders of Neo Soul, such as Dangelo, Questlove and Maxwell right up to Chris Dave, Anderson Paak, Nate Smith and Tom Misch. We enlisted the incredibly talented drummer George Cook for this pack, he's played for, amongst many others, The Japanese House, Collard and Calum Scott. He has recorded on albums for Eminem, Birdy, Marika Hackman, Jamie N Commons, X Ambassadors, Bruno Major and Rag N Bone Man. Neo Soul was recorded by Billy Halliday (Frank Ocean, James Blake, Sampha, Duke Dumont)at Miloco's Livingston Studio 2 through their Custom Series 75 by Neve desk using only the finest mics from Neumann, Coles, AKG and AEA. Livingston Studio 2 is the perfect space for this kind of drum sound, with its snappy and tight sounding live spaces and massive array of high-end analogue gear. As ever this pack is all fully live and organic, with strictly zero quantising to ensure the feel and groove is fully retained to give your tracks that extra special feel.

At the forefront of a burgeoning underground scene of producers pushing the sonic limits of trap and plugg closer to ambient music, cutspace weaves IDM, glitch and post-rock influences into his work with artists such as xang, Moh Baretta, kuru, and emotionals. He describes his sound design as a process akin to masonry or engineering, where materials are processed to construct the appropriate environment and space. Inspired by ancient civilizations, esoterica, and alchemy, he crafts mystical sonic landscapes for vocal artists to inhabit. Descended from Syrian diaspora, cutspace describes his atmospheric world-building as an effort in some way to reconstruct a connection to the feeling of home. ‘scripts to Earth / hymns to Sky’ is a self-contained world of frequency extremes, whispered percussion, and nearly infinite ambience. At once history and sci-fi, textural etchings and painterly melodies drape the edges of the stereo field, created using custom FL patchers which he’s known to share with the community. Reflections
Sound Doctrine presents “Reflections” a special sample pack inspired by the crossover success of gospel artists who found themselves on popular R & B charts in the early 90’s. A specific inspiration for this release is the massive success of artists like BeBe & CeCe Winans. This era of Gospel is marked by a change in the sonic approach; singers did duet ballads that were more related to R&B songs of that day as opposed to the traditional roots of gospel, all while the music incorporated more synthesizers and studio programmed production that wasn’t usually found in the genre before. “Reflections” will give producers access to 15 loops of original compositions that have catchy soulful vocal hooks and melodies paired with true vintage synthesizer sounds that are easy to use in your own creations. Afro Psychedelia
Afro Psychedelia is a subgenre of music that was exported from African culture, remixed in the West, then re-imported back to Africa, where it was taken to a whole new level. Blues and rock music originated in Africa but took new forms when it reached America. Jimmy Hendrix, Chuck Berry, James Brown, and other African American rock musicians put their twist on it. Psychedelic rock is one of the most notable subgenres from this movement. When it made it’s way back to Africa, native musicians added flavor with traditional instruments, pushing the psychedelic sound even further. African countries like Senegal, Nigeria, and Zambia saw a rise in what became known as Afro Psychedelia. Dakar-based Pape Armand Boye was the perfect person to capture the sounds of the genre and the era it represents. The loops were recorded in the style of classic African psychedelic rock from the ‘60s and ‘70s. Much like the genre as a whole, these loops present a mix of rock & roll, blues, funk, and Afrobeat. You’ll hear the heavy influences of artists like Amanaz, Moussa Doumbia, MonoMono, and Bongos Ikwue in this pack. Take a trip into the psychedelic sounds of 1970s Africa.

ENEI makes a return to Test Press following the success of his ENEI Sample Pack V1, which offers a variety of excellent drums, construction kits, music and bass samples, and presets for Serum 1, Serum 2 and Vital to assist you in your music production journey.ENEI, a figure who has significantly shaped the Drum and Bass scene with his unique sound and style, began his musical journey in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 2003. A young Alexey Egorchenkov, with a growing fascination for Drum and Bass, started experimenting with his own production and DJing. As he adopted the artist name ENEI, his career started to flourish, earning him a star status in Russia and beyond. However, it was in 2007 that his career truly took off.ENEI's journey to success continued as he earned his first official release on the Dutch label Fokuz. This was just the beginning, as others began to drop on other imprints such as Blu Saphir, Cyanide and Citrus throughout 2008 and 2009. His productions and profile began to take shape, catching the attention of a particular eagle-eyed label boss, renowned for his supreme A&R'ing. It wasn't long before the phone call from Critical Music bossman, Kasra, who secured the first ENEI release on Critical at the end of 2010. This was a significant milestone in ENEI's career, leading to his exclusive signing with Critical in 2011.

Recorded at Figure 8 Studio in scenic Prospect Park, we worked with renowned Brooklyn-based mix engineer Aaron Bastinelli to capture a beautiful custom indie-pop kit in pristine detail. Aaron lovingly placed a full array of room mics and close mics, meticulously measured with phase-aware care, then produced an ultra-clean SSL mixdown. The result is this collection of instantly usable drum grooves, fills, and oneshots, perfect for indie rock, pop, or dance styles, and delivered in your choice of close-mic or room-mic versions for each recording.
