Home Hardware with Machinedrum
Machinedrum experiments with the groundbreaking and club-shaking “physical” drum machine called the Perc Pro and common items from a Home Depot. The result is an eclectic collection of loops and one-shots that make things like tubing, guttering, roof jacks, metal studs, metal sheets, greek tiles, wood planks and fence posts into a collection of miscellaneous percussion and oil-stained kicks.
Count Baldor Sample Pack
Count Baldor is the current creative alias of Tom Parker, a British music producer and composer. Rather than seeing hyperpop as one defining sound, Parker considers it a continuation of artists like Shitmat, Ebola, and the rest of the Wrong Music squad, among others. Sometimes he works from a blank slate and just creates until he has something he likes. When he is pulling inspiration, it's from sources like UK garage, jazz, tv show themes, ancient lyre music, dubstep, psytrance, techno, IDM, etc. He shared, "I like to cherry-pick different things and just see what works together in an exciting way."When producing music and sounds, Parker likes to play around with various musical tropes and re-invent or repurpose something. He thinks others will find fun ways to incorporate a less serious attitude towards production and songwriting when working with his Splice pack.
Scientist - Space Invaders V1
Hopeton Overton Brown, the Jamaican-born producer and recording engineer, rose to fame in the 1980s mixing dub music as "Scientist". A protégé of King Tubby, Scientist pioneered the dub reggae genre in the 1970s alongside Ruddock, Bunny Lee, Philip Smart, Pat Kelly, and Prince Jammy. For this pack, the Splice team gathered the finest reggae session musicians to join Scientist in our LA studio to capture the essential sounds of dub - and beyond. This collection is dripping in layers of riddim, bass, echo, and reverb used to sculpt soundscapes that draw attention to the shape and depth of the space between sounds, and the sounds themselves.

Kununko: Sahara Sounds
Recorded in Dakar at Laboutique Studio, this pack is a deep dive into Saharan Blues and traditional Malian instrumentation. Kununko means "the day before yesterday" and represents the history and rich story behind this pack. Tishoumaren, internationally known as desert blues or Saharan Blues, is a fusion of blues and rock music with Tuareg, Malian, or North African music. Tuareg musicians pioneered the style as an expression of their traditionally nomadic culture amid their difficult sociopolitical situation, including rebellions, widespread displacement, and exile in post-colonial Africa. The word Tishoumaren is actually derived from the French word chômeur, meaning "the unemployed". The genre was first popularized outside of Africa by Ali Farka Touré and later Tinariwen. In recent years, artists like Mdou Moctar and Bombino have continued to adapt Saharan rock music and have achieved international success. The 25th Hour (real name Andrew Gowie) is a GRAMMY-nominated multi-instrumental artist and producer who's worked with Drake (on "Emotionless") and K. Forest, among others. About this pack, Gowie shared, "This pack is the culmination of sessions and ideas I’ve been a part of from around the world. From sessions back home in Toronto, studios in LA, Berlin, London. Inspiration from trips of reflection, from South Africa to Italy to Costa Rica. I think it translated to the ideas being versatile. I took inspiration from cultures close to me. My European-Jamaican heritage." He added, "The Concept for this pack is to reinterpret some of the fundamental hardware and organic sounds of early electronic genres and the music it was sampled from (Detroit acid, garage, deep house, French house, Afrobeat). How elements from R&B, soul, break beats, funk, disco, dub were sampled and reformed to create new genres, from the creation of the first at home synthesizers and samplers. I recreated the vibe of sampling with original compositions and sounds. I wanted to create a dirty warm palette of sounds that would have an off the mpc3000, sp12, reel-to-reel tape and tube saturation aesthetic while keeping the sounds timeless enough to be used in a variety of genres. I want this to inspire creativity. The way that a house record gets sampled into the biggest hip hop record one day, and the next the biggest pop artists are collaborating with the biggest hip hop producers. Genres are blurred more than ever. I hope this collection of music represents that. A soundtrack of ideas the way were all intertwined in the city."

One Man Tribe - Ben Aylon
Ben Aylon a.k.a One Man Tribe presents a modern approach to West African drumming. Ben’s pack contains fresh loops, one-shots and sounds inspired by the Wolof tribe drummers from Senegal, capturing their musical concepts such as: massive rhythms, low frequency drums, elastic feel and intense energy. The pack was recorded on Ben’s one-of-a-kind custom made African drum set and also features multi-genre beats played on Africa’s most ancient percussion instrument - The Calabash.
Cruise Control
Port Rich Volume 1 has been a staple in the Soul Surplus sample library. To this day, it remains a best-seller, proving that this was a sound that producers everywhere were looking for. Over the last two and a half years, we’ve delivered five more volumes to the Port Rich series with compositions created not just for producers, but creatives everywhere. Over time composition packs became more of a treat, as the team delved deep into creating melodic loop packs (or sample packs). The goal was to offer a product that helped open the flood gates for more flexibility in the creation process. The Port Rich sound had been reserved for the Port Rich composition series, but we figured it was time to create a melodic loop pack, packed with the Port Rich sound many have come to love.
Senegalese Soukous
Soukous is a style of African popular music characterized by syncopated rhythms and intricate contrasting guitar melodies. It originated in the Democratic Republic of Congo, known as Zaire in the 1970s when the genre emerged and made its way through both Africa and France. Although Soukous did not originate in Senegal, many Congolese musicians resided there, starting soukous bands and having a great influence on local music. Pape Armand Boye produced this pack, which was recorded at his Laboutique Studios in Dakar with some of the best soukous musicians living in the region. Soukous is dance music. It’s happy, it’s a celebration of life. It’s similar to rumba but with a higher tempo and longer dance sequences. In this pack, you’ll find Congolese percussion loops, full beat loops, electric bass, guitar, piano, vocal phrases, and more. We hope these soukous sounds add some cheer to your next production.
Shaolin Subway
No matter how gentrified New York City becomes, it still carries a certain grunge that seems to be engrained in the city no matter what borough you are in. New York-based rappers like The Wu-Tang Clan (including Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, GZA, Method Man, and more) have inspired the sound of Shaolin Subway, which aims to sonically express that grunge. Shaolin Subway is full of eerie pianos, and rhythmic guitars that lace this sample pack with dissonant moods reminiscent of early Clan releases.
