Middle East Essentials - Vol. 2
Following the success of the Middle East Essentials series by Gio Israel, we decided to push the envelope and create a pack combining both traditional and ancient instruments with state-of-the-art production processing. We gathered unreleased recordings from the MEE series alongside new recordings made especially for this pack, and went on a 6 month journey to edit, process and polish the sounds, bringing together some of the most exciting young producers and musicians in the field. Japanese Percussion with Kaoru Watanabe
Kaoru Watanabe is a Brooklyn-based composer and musician, specializing in Japanese percussion and shinobue flutes. He has spent decades artfully blending the sounds of Japanese instruments with others from around the world. He’s collaborated with such artists as National Living Treasure Bando Tamasaburo, Jason Moran, So Percussion, Adam Rudolph, Kenny Endo, Stefon Harris, Kiyohiko Semba, Alicia Hall Moran, Tamango, calligrapher Kakinuma Koji, visual artist Simone Leigh, and director Martin Scorsese. He was a featured guest on Yo-Yo Ma's Grammy Award-winning album Sing Me Home. For this Originals session, Watanabe brought taiko drums and a wide selection of other Japanese percussion instruments to create a diverse range of sounds. We recorded his performances in both the traditional Japanese style and his newer style of playing taiko, which is more like a percussion cage. The resulting sounds are rhythms primed for any R&B, chill, hip hop, downtempo, jazz, trip hop, or any type of production you’re inspired to make.

Created in collaboration with lofi hip hop artist and beatmaker Marc aka misc.inc. From his studio in Dresden, Germany he combines soulful chords with organic sound design and rhythmic boom bap grooves to create stories and feelings. Wolfgang Gartner - Signature Series Pt. 1
This pack represents about 8 years of sound and sample design through the span of my releases as Wolfgang Gartner. The samples could essentially be used to make any style of music, but were mostly plucked from my collection of home-made electro house and progressive sounds which I regularly make in batches. The sounds were made using software and hardware; about half and half. Over half of the bass sounds were made using classic analog synths; a Voyager, Juno-106, Andromeda, Poly Evolver, Arp Odyssey, and others; and many of the drum sounds were processed with analog pieces such as the EL-8X Distressor compressors and other analog signal processors to add extra punch and slap. Many eras and subgenres are represented here, including the earlier eras of grunge electro, big room, tech house, commercial / radio dance and even a bit of future house and beyond. There are a few select stems from some songs of mine including “Piranha” and “Unholy.” The inclusion of certain sounds and categories was based largely on feedback I received on social media - I designed the pack to cater to the requests I got for certain categories and types of sounds. I hope these sounds are as useful to you as they’ve been to me. I have used many of them in my productions and continue to use them (alone or in the formation of new sounds) on a regular basis. This pack started with about 500 sounds, but in the interest of quality-over-quantity, I narrowed it down to strictly the best 250 sounds and samples that I would use in my own productions.
