Break Tapes with Sean Hutchinson
Sean Hutchinson has been a touring and recording member of the band Bleachers since 2014 and an active force on the New York City music scene since 2007. For this release, he recorded a bunch of drum breaks in his Brooklyn studio influenced by his jazz background, experience in pop and indie rock acts, and drummers he admires. The Splice Originals crew then put the sounds through an Ampex 440-B Tape Machine for a proper crunch at 7.5 inches per second. The result is banging drums dripping in saturation, grit, and unique lo-fi character. When performing this pack, Sean fused inspiration from jazz icons like Brian Blade, Elvin Jones, and Art Blakey along with cross-genre contemporary players such as Matt Chamberlain, Jim Keltner, and Aaron Sterling.
Pocket Drums with Corey Fonville
Recorded at Aura Studios Brooklyn, Splice Originals: Pocket Drums focuses on the tight Philadelphia drum sound that Questlove pioneered. Percussion styles in the pack represent funk, soul, disco, hip hop, and R&B. You’ll find all of the quintessential breakbeat-style grooves that capture that 1970s groovy feeling, plus a few surprises. Having picked up drum sticks at the age of two and later studying at the Dave Brubeck Institute in Stockton, CA, Corey Fonville has traveled the world with several notable artists. He was most recently touring with the Nicholas Payton Trio and is a member of the Christian Scott Quintet. He also has his own band called Butcher Brown.
Pocket Drums Vol 2
For Splice Originals: Pocket Drums Vol 2, Corey Fonville pays homage to Philadelphia Soul music while incorporating his own modern twist. Recorded at Minimum Wage Recording in Richmond VA, this pack features quintessential breakbeat-style grooves that capture 1970s energy, along with percussion styles representing funk, soul, disco, hip hop, and R&B. The result is a surprising mix of grooves, beats, and rhythms pulling inspiration from artists like Questlove, The Roots, Clyde Stubblefield, Steve Jordan, Elvin Jones, and many others.
Hangar
Ironically, Hangar is all about elevation. This collection of acoustic drum and percussion samples was recorded inside an airplane hangar large enough to house three Dassault Falcon 7X jets. Expectedly, these drums offer unbelievable natural reverb and organic delay and are ready to be dropped right into producers’ sessions. They can be used either on their own or layered underneath other drums.
Vinyl Drums From Mars
Vinyl Drums From Mars is a collection of acoustic drum and percussion hits created from scratch, cut to vinyl, and sampled. We recorded our vintage 1960s Rogers kit with an assortment of snares, cymbals and percussion - using a combination of vintage and modern microphones, through a 1608 console and tube preamps direct to two different 2-track tape machines.These sounds were then cut to vinyl and sampled in pristine quality fresh off the lathe at the mastering studio. We then sampled the record at our studio with a combination of different needles, turntables, play speeds, phono preamps, and outboard gear. We made sure to also degrade the vinyl both by letting it play over time, as well as by scratching, scuffing and otherwise messing it up to get the punchiest and dirtiest vinyl drums imaginable! This pack contains everything from clean, dead and dry, classic vinyl drums, to dusty and degraded, dirty and effected, re-pitched, unexpected and modern sounds. We’ve organised these samples into 20 super playable drum kits over a range of sound, genre, and aesthetic, as well as included 278 of our favourite additional miscellaneous vinyl drum one shots from these sessions.
Nir & Jeff
Drummer Nir Z is one of the most sought-after drummers in the industry and mix engineer Jeff Juliano is a studio legend. If you’ve ever listened to Jason Mraz, Blake Shelton, Genesis, PVRIS, or Steven Lee Olson, you were probably listening to the work of Nir and Jeff. These two made history in NYC when they recorded John Mayer’s debut album, Room for Squares. As you might know, this record went on to become one of the highest selling records of all time and the drum tones on this record became some of the most coveted drum tones in the genre for years. Leftfield Drum Breaks
A.J. Hall is a professional drummer and music producer who has toured and recorded with Jon Cleary, Russ Liquid, Bill Evans, and Nigel Hall. In 2019 he started crafting his own drum breaks which have since been used on records with Russ, Statik Selecta, Smoke Dza, !llmind, Terminology, DJ Green Lantern, and more. All of these drum breaks have been recorded using three different drum sets, five different snares and a variety of Sabian cymbals. All the drum breaks and drum sounds were processed using analog gear such as the Roland SP303, a reel to reel tape machine, and a vintage space echo. This pack is perfect for anyone looking for grimy, dusty, and funky drum breaks that you would normally find searching through vintage records from the 1970s. These old drums kits, played and recorded by Shahar Haziza, include vintage Slingerland, Gretsch and Leedy drums and were recored through vintage ribbon mics and preamps. TR 808 - The Drum Machine
Introduced by the Roland Corporation in early 1980, the TR-808 drum machine was released to the general public . What Roland didn't know was this iconic drum machine of the 80's would still be used in studios worldwide for the next 35 years and re-invent the sounds of multiple genres through the decades. It's claim to fame started with Hip Hop and the Electro sound from the US, then evolved through UK Dance music, popped it's head in every genre from Techno to Drum & Bass and now it's the main drum sound of Trap, there's no holding back this monster of a drum machine from now or the future. Authentic Roland TR-808's in perfect condition have become harder and harder to find year on year so here at Zenhiser we decided it was time to sample the hell out of a perfect condition TR 808, then run it through some awesome analogue gear and deliver a pinnacle pack of TR-808 drum sounds plus a superbly programmed array of drum loops that have spanned the 808 decades. DEAD
Recorded in a tiny room, using minimal mics and all analog outboard gear, we collected some of the absolute tightest sounding drum samples and loops. Dead, dry drums are hard to come by these days. Over-processed and verbed out sounds have plagued every corner of the sample world. We wanted to design an entire library of real, raw drum samples and loops that allowed music makers to process, verb, compress and destroy these samples in every which way.
Darren King: Iconic Signature
If you've spent any amount of time listening to the band MUTEMATH, surely at some point you found yourself air drumming your heart out. It happens to all of us. Drummer, Darren King can have that influence on you. He is recognized as one of the most passionate and talented drummers in music and the only thing more brilliant than his playing is his unique approach to capturing his sound. We spent days in the lab with Darren pulling together one of the coolest and most beloved samples libraries in our catalog. Unpolished and filthy in the best way possible, Darren’s drums are processed and pushed hard through API preamps, various compressors, and Studer and Teac tape heads. This library offers a variety of kicks, snares, toms, and cymbals — all in greatly detailed multi-velocity samples. Hihats forever. This pack from That Sound has everything, we mean everything, you might need when it comes to the hihats. Hihat Heaven was recorded in a studio using modern mic’ing techniques, but just removing the other drums! Imagine a drummer playing the hihats without the snare, kick and toms - that is what is happening in this pack. So, where a snare is hit in a normal groove, a snare was (imaginatively) hit in this pack.This pack has loops recorded on various sized hihats played across a very wide range of tempos and detailed one shots recorded on 13 through to 16 inch hihats. This pack contains only hihats! The other drums in the demo are not apart of the pack but are for you to hear the hihats in context.

Wait, what exactly is Virgo? Scientifically speaking, Virgo is the second largest constellation. But from our view, it’s the name of the most unusual and unbelievable drum sample pack in our entire catalog. No joke. This collection is so odd, we thought it was only appropriate for its name to be synonymous with the celestial, the extra-terrestrial. Taken from the personal archives of Grammy-nominated producer, Jamie Lidell, Virgo paves the path for personal expression and creativity. We consider Jamie the mad scientist of electronic sound. His pack, Virgo is a treasury of electronic sounds made through the operation of vintage, analog gear. Unlike most software applications, Virgo gets its grit and rarity by emphasizing signal chain through vintage equipment, not software. Naturally, this means you could manipulate your favorite plugins from sun up to sun down and never really scratch the surface of these specific sounds. It's 2025, and most drum samples on my computer are about as handy as an ashtray on a motorbike. The few that aren't? I've RINSED over & over again.So, I decided to whip up a fresh batch of drums to save myself (and hopefully you) from endless scrolling.I've always believed drums are foundational to a track, every other layer can be fire, but if your drums don't hit, the song won't hit (and vice versa). Drums influence how you engineer every other sound in your song, so starting with good samples is paramount in my opinion.Art by Funilab
909 From Mars
The introduction of the 909 in 1984 transformed the landscape of electronic dance music permanently. Every voice on this drum machine is a classic - instantly recognizable, and deeply nostalgic yet increasingly relevant in today's music.If you’re after raw, banging 909 samples, look no further. We recorded two different 909 drum machines through an analog console, 1/4” tape and a variety of outboard gear. Included in 909 From Mars are 409 one-shots and 500 loops, totaling 909 samples. The one-shots range from clean (direct from source with no processing), to tape, to heavily processed. For the loops, we believe there’s a magic that happens when programming on the internal step sequencer, turning knobs, and embracing the limitations of a machine. We captured this magic on the 909, while also running the loops through some serious outboard gear and creative processing along the way.
Breaktapes Vol 2 with Sean Hutchinson
Fresh out of the studio for Taylor Swift's newest album, Sean Hutchinson (Bleachers) returns to Splice for his second collection of beats recorded at his studio in Brooklyn, NY. This sample pack delivers a little glitter and a little grime. Featuring found percussion, homemade stacks with his primary drumkit, and super funky percussion layers, the entire pack is nicely saturated for a soul-adjacent sound. Sean delivers these loops and one-shots in two versions—clean and with his special sauce so you can choose your own adventure when working with these sounds.
Brad Webb Jazz Grooves
Having played with the likes of Amy Winehouse, Jamie Cullum and Paulo Nutini, Brad Webb is one of the UK’s most formidable jazz and pop drummers. We were absolutely delighted to team up with Brad to create a brand new jazz collection based around accessible jazz grooves that will perfectly slot into any session. Taking inspiration from drummers such as Brian Blade, Elvin Jones & Ed Thigpen and with a range of tempos from 80-151bpm the Brad Webb Jazz Grooves album has something to suit everyone. Brad used his beautiful 1960s Gretsch Round Badge kit with a selection of vintage cymbals, all recorded to the highest possible standard at London’s Livingston Studios, which has played host to some incredible jazz sessions in recent years including Ezra Collective, Kokoroko and Sons of Kemet, while Livingston regular Luke Farnell was on engineering duties.
MPCs From Mars
These three MPCs represent the history of the iconic sampler so well, we’ve combined them into one super pack! As well as making music production accessible to a new generation of producers and musicians, their classic conversion make for some of the punchiest and grittiest drum sounds of all time. The MPC 60 is one of the best sounding samplers ever, and has shaped the sound of classic 90s hip hop, R&B and house music with its unmistakeable grit, warmth and punch. The drums are fat, thick and analog sounding, full of 12bit artifacts and noise that sound beautiful when tidied up a little with filters.The MPC 3000 debuted in 1994 during the golden age of hip hop. It expanded on the MPC 60 most notably with stereo, 16 bit sampling, a delay, and an excellent sounding filter with brilliant resonance and envelope modulation. Together with its signature sequencer groove and clip-able input, this made the MPC 3000 perfect for early 90s drum shaping, and became a genre-defining staple for the top producers of the genre and independent artists alike. The MPC 2000 XL is legendary in its own right. These drum samples have been filtered, clipped and edited in the MPC, as well as processed to perfection with external hardware. This pack contains WAV files organised into 46 kits - 20 from the MPC 60, 20 from the MPC 3000, and 6 from the MPC 2000XL - for a total of 754 samples.

Ilan Rubin: Drum Samples & Loops Sample Pack
Ilan Rubin is an iconic drummer, percussionist, singer, and songwriter who's played with Nine Inch Nails, Paramore, and Angels & Airwaves. He took over the drum chair with NIN at just 20 years old and in 2011 joined Angels & Airwaves, playing not just drums but also guitar, bass, keyboards, singing backing vocals and helped write the music on ever since. Born in 1988, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with NIN in 2020, making history as the youngest ever inductee. In addition to his lasting impact on those influential acts, Rubin has been the frontman and creative force of the band, The New Regime since 2007, in which he sings, plays all of the instruments in the studio, and plays guitar in their live performances. He is also now releasing fresh solo music under his own name.

1985
Because who doesn’t love the 80’s, right? For some, this is a taste of childhood; a look back at what got us into music to begin with. For others, this is nostalgia re-inserting itself into some of today’s coolest and most successful songs. Inspired by classic drums sounds from Phil Collins, Tears for Fears, Don Henley, Madonna, ‘Til Tuesday, and Springsteen, these drums rewind the clock back to the year circa 1985, while keeping your feet planted in the modern aesthetic of today’s music. 1985 comes with both multiple velocity and one-shot samples as well as presets to help you get started. We cut these drums in a huge room on Neve preamps with top shelf condenser and ribbon microphones. And for some additional 1985 flavor, we then pushed them through an AMS RMX16 reverb. The multi-velocity samples are mixed with Dry, Natural, Big and 2 AMS settings for a classic mid-’80s sound.
Sterloid
Aaron Sterling is your favorite drummer’s favorite drummer. For a lot of us, when we mic up the drums and hit record, Aaron’s the end result we’re hoping for. So imagine how excited we are to feature the first signature drum sample library from the man himself. Aaron’s feel is expressive. Every note means something. His style is singular. In a lot of ways, he’s the industry standard for that Cali, grubby, lo-fi, over-processed, LA sound. If you’re familiar with his work at all, you knew we weren’t going to make it too far into this description without mentioning his work on John Mayer’s last few albums. We could spend this entire description on his resumé because it isn’t shy ... and neither is his drum sample library, Sterloid. This library boasts 5000 + multi-velocity samples and nearly 200 total loops. What this library brings to producers and mixers is special. We’re not just talking about playing some kick, hat, snare combinations onto some good drums into some good mics. Nah. Aaron pulled out metal sheets, appliances, toys, and other strange gadgets to capture some of the most compelling samples. Many producers, especially in hip hop, get their start in their high school drumline or marching band. Splice Originals’ Cobra Drumline pack nods to the rich and complex history of the drumline while celebrating the artform’s modernization and use in music production today. We compiled the highlights from our favorite 80s drum machines we’ve sampled, so you can have the sound of the 80s right at your fingertips. Hold onto your mullets! Introducing the cast:It took us years to track down the LM1 - one of the rarest and most sought-after drum machines on earth (only 550 ever built)! Not many sample packs exist of this elusive beast, and because of its obscurity, many are either low quality or don’t have the original samples. Favored by Prince and Michael Jackson, among countless others, this is the crown jewel of rare 80s drum machines.The Lindrum (or LM2) is the successor and companion to the LM1. Much more ubiquitous, these drums are all over the biggest songs of the 80s and have seen quite a resurgence in the last decade. Along with these, we’ve included Lindrum’s attempted competitor, the Drumulator. While it doesn’t sound much like the Lin, its punchy low-bit sound also made its way into the annals of pop music history.Rounding out the bunch, the 8-bit DMX drum machine sounds like an acoustic drum kit frozen in time. Live Hip Hop Drums
Live Hip Hop Drums is a collection of down-tempo grooves between 80 and 100 BPM performed live on drum set and percussion by Charles Van Kirk. The grooves are inspired by Motown’s influence on hip hop and were recorded with a combination of Coles ribbon microphones, Telefunken tube microphones and class A preamps. Each sound is presented with two different versions of processing: one clean and one "crunchy" to mimic a vintage lo-fi sound. Notably, each loop has a corresponding layer of auxiliary percussion composed of shakers, tambourines and drum rims that can be mixed in separately to add texture and motion.

SLAP! DRUMS: Italian Beats & Breaks
SLAP! Drums: Italian Beats and Breaks is a collection of hard-hitting acoustic drum breaks perfect for making neck-breaking beats with a human feel. This sample pack was recorded at Pyramid Produzioni, a recording studio in Trastevere, the heart of Rome, Italy. Performed by Federico Romeo and recorded/produced by Luca Gaudenzi, this pack includes 35 drum loops and 100 one-shots, all recorded through a combination of analog preamps and vintage microphones. Federico utilized various drum kits and microphone combinations, to achieve a collection of unique and hard-hitting drum loops and one-shots. Federico is a first-call drummer for Italy’s burgeoning soul and hip-hop scene. He regularly performs with Davide Shorty, Aine, Serena Brancale, and RBSN. With a variety of grooves at different tempos and meticulously curated percussion one-shots, adding SLAP! Drums to your tracks are the extra sauce you need to gently but firmly slap your tracks in the face. LEX Sounds curate sample packs from an international roster of award-winning live musicians and music producers. SLAP! Dusty Drum Machines
This pack is the fourth installment exploring the unique instruments the legendary electronics store, Three Wave Music in New Jersey has to offer. This one highlights rare drum machines and drum boxes. It features creative percussion and drum loops in a range of styles from hip hop to house to disco, electro, techno, and trap. We used granular synthesis and outboard processing with Elysia Mpressors, Lexicon, and TC Helicon effects to take these cosmic rhythm boxes to new depths. We recorded the sounds and grooves of six super rare drum machines and boxes including the Simmons SDS9, Synsonics 5300, Boss DR55, E-mu Drumulator, Boss DR110, and the Korg DDM 220. Groove Culture
Arthouse Acoustics presents Groove Culture, a love letter to the grammy award winning drum sounds of Kaytranada and Daft Punk. A truly original drum collection pushing the boundaries of hip-hop house and the disco revival with neon funk flavours and feel-good grooves.The Arthouse team worked with some of the finest professional musicians to record organic, swung and unquantized drum grooves, breaking free from the constraints of over-programmed four to the floor beats. The team then worked their magic, using forward-thinking drum design, reimagining live percussion and drum recordings into something truly special. Included in the pack are mix ready drum grooves, no kick loops, as well as stripped variations and percussion loops for versatility. Also included are a plethora of complementary songstarters, dripping with the sparkle, finesse and class associated with the disco-revival sound, including resynthesized vocals, chorus-coated guitars and spacious keys.

Glam Rock
Are two drummers better than one, let’s find out! Drumdrops are delighted to present Glam Rock,, a rocking double drumming journey of all things Glam Rock from drummer/ producers Ben Hillier and Ben Hampson. Taking influence from the kings of Glam, from Bowie to Bolan and The NY Dolls right up to today’s Glamster’s such as MCR and Palaye Royale. A huge palate of over 240 grooves with tempo’s ranging from 86 to 168 bpm along with 70 hits makes this pack a sure fire way to add that authentic glam flamboyance. This was lovingly recorded at Ben Hilliers Agricultural Audio studio in Sussex (UK) through his vast collection of vintage mics, preamps, outboard and other assorted rarities.
Rhythm Boxes From Mars
Rhythm Boxes are some of the most useful and creative tools for a music producer. From making vibey lo-fi indie, to layering for house and techno, to some real groovy disco - these tried and true patterns always tend to come in handy. We compiled our favorite four rhythm boxes into one pack, including all their preset pattern loops (full as well as stripped for layering) and their isolated one shots. This pack contains the most iconic rhythm box, the CR78, and a couple rarities!These are the 4 rhythm boxes we sampled:CR78:This is the classic. We know it, we love it. When you think of rhythm box, this is the sound that comes to mind. This pack contains all the classic patterns and isolated one shots recorded pristinely, as well as distorted versions that have been mangled with a vintage 1960s organ mixer. Metallic percussion, warm analog kicks, crisp 808-ish snares, and some of the smoothest hi hats of all time. R64:The R64 from early 1980s Italy has the functionality and limitations of a typical rhythm box, but sounds quite different, as it's sample based rather than analog. 12bit PCM samples, sourced mostly from acoustic percussion, give the R64 a punchy quality more akin to a punchy 80s drum machines than the CR78. But unlike these classic EPROM based machines, the R64 sports analog sounding cymbal samples, giving the unit a unique, hybrid flavor all its own. There are possibly less than 10 working versions of this machine, making it the rarest drum machine in this pack.Rhythm 700:"It's big and from the 70s" is the most information you can find about the Rhythm 700, also known as the TR 700. It's another rare one - a 3ft tall analog rhythm box that doubles quite nicely as a piece of studio furniture. The sound is unbeatable - early 70s analog drums, with airy hi hats, a punchy snare and snappy analog percussion. It's older and a bit grittier (there is some noise) than its late 70s siblings the CR-68 and CR-78. We also sampled and re-pitched this rhythm box’s one shots using the SP sampler for even more grit and flexibility.MR10:This is one of the overlooked rhythm box gems of early 80s. It is all analog, and sounds like an extremely snappy cross between a CR78 and an 808. It has a certain edge that translates it very well to modern electronic music styles. This thing cuts!This pack contains 486 WAV files from these 4 drum machines - 262 loops of their preset patterns, and 14 kits of one shots for a total of 224 one shots.
CR78 - The Machine
The Roland CompuRhythm CR78 may seem primitive by today's standards but this drum machine was a huge advance in music especially in the 80s. A favourite amongst a huge collection of the 80s producers and used in countless songs including "In The Air Tonight" by Phil Collins and "Heart Of Glass" by Blondie. And what made the Roland CompuRhythm CR-78 so exciting, well it's drums sounded different, they sounded very different to your real percussion sound. With this in mind we thought this would be the perfect drum machine to start our new series, "The Machine". As you know by now, we are big fans of the 80s and thought of how we could supply a drum machine series that was a little different from the rest, and this is how it panned out. "CR78 - The Machine" has all the CR78 drum sounds you need, recorded perfectly from the original machine and supplied in both flat and outboard tweaked versions. We've used the best vintage and digital software / hardware to polish the drum sounds and show them in their light for today's use but included the originals as well to supply that authentic classic Roland CR78 sound. On top of that why have a sample pack that just supplies the drum sounds, what about the beats! Well "CR78 - The Machine" also delivers two very different collections of drum beats, "The Classic Folder" delivering the essential drum beats that the CR78 are so famously known for, and "The Modern Folder", a perfect collection of today's beats created solely using the CR78 drum sounds and supplied with multiple takes including with kick, without kick and stripped own versions. All the classic and modern drum beats also include bpm information within the file name for fast use. All in all "CR78 - The Machine" is an essential sample pack for all drum machine enthusiasts, classic 80s producers and those of us who want something classic and vintage whilst being bang up to date.
