Dakar Trap with ISS814
This pack was born from the Senegal edition of Splice Sessions. The producer Iss 814 (born Ismaila Talla) used some of the raw material from those sessions recorded in Dakar last April to craft his own sounds. The resulting pack amplifies the style he originated called Dakar Trap, combining West African rhythms with those of western hip hop. In addition to plenty of brand new material, Ismaila included some of his signature beats in this pack. Ismaila makes note that many of Senegal’s traditional instruments are used in western R&B and rap music today. He sees this as a celebratory way to carry on and export the Senegalese tradition overseas. In this pack, you’ll find the sounds of these instruments including the tam-tam, ngondi, kora, and balafon, among others. These instruments reflect the sounds of nature, adding elements of groundedness and connection to the music composed of them. Ismaila looks forward to hearing what you make with these sounds.

leroy Estate Sale, a Jane Remover moment
By just 19 years old, North Jersey-based artist Jane Remover has achieved cult status as a producer and vocalist under a slew of monikers. In late 2021, her critically-acclaimed Pitchfork-8.0-garnering breakthrough LP ‘Frailty’ lifted her eclectic bedroom production and honest lyricism into new territory. Inspired equally by video game OSTs and indie rock, Jane is just at the beginning of a career as a truly enigmatic singer-songwriter. ‘leroy Estate Sale’ contains the last remaining relics of Jane’s late ‘leroy’ moniker, once the pioneer of the sonic phenomenon known as ‘dariacore’, defined by mashing as many tropes of pop and EDM into single Soundcloud uploads as possible. Filled to the brim with razor-sharp, ear-bending drums, post-dubstep basses, and moments of gentler Jane Remover guitars and synths amid the leroy maximalism. We couldn’t reach Jane for comment, but she authored the following listing in the Wakita Herald: “Our beloved leroy has passed beyond the mortal plane. Estate Sale at 19 Moment Street, Wakita OK. Taking cues from the once illicit Post-Punk and New Wave ‘magnitizdat’ tapes circulating throughout the East-European Bloc in the mid 80’s, ‘Doomer Tapes’ is replete with worn out guitars, corrosive synths, elegiac pads and pummeling drums.
Session Tapes
Far too often, producers have a habit of over-processing their music. Between compression, reverb, delay, saturation, and modulation, we tend to overdo things a tad bit when it comes to mixing and creating sounds. “Session Tapes” is our answer to this over-processing and overdoing that we are prone to in the 21st century. “Session Tapes” is 15 Melodic Loops and over 140 one-shots of untouched and raw soul. We featured only acoustic and electric instruments like electric, nylon string, and acoustic guitar. We also worked in electric bass and piano/pianet for a natural and warm sonic bed to these arrangements. There are no synthesizers, and very little reverb to be found in “Session Tapes”. We still kept to our tried-and-true processing, with dry stem options for maximum versatility. Organic, warm, and soulful.
