Slow Daze: Psychedelic Surf Stacks combines effected guitars, vintage keyboards, and washed out production, which are the defining characteristics of the neo-psychedelic and jangle pop that took over the lo-fi indie rock world over the past decade. Artists like Mac DeMarco, Khruangbin, and Unknown Mortal Orchestra have defined and ushered the genre into the mainstream, providing the soundtrack to scenes of surf, skate, and other once-underground subcultures. For this collection of sounds, Arthouse Acoustics - went deep, writing original compositions, recording live guitars, bass, vintage keys, and vocals. Then they experimented with creative processing from their studio in Brighton, UK. These acoustic and analog recordings were chopped, processed, and re-sampled to offer truly uniques textures, layers, and melodic inspiration.

Ocean Ave 2: West Coast Guitars
Ocean Ave: West Coast Guitars Vol 2 expands on the previous volume of the quintessential sound of the G-funk era combined with modern sun-drenched licks and funk riffs that have been a signature element of West Coast hip hop to this day. The sonic palette of soulful chord progressions and inviting lead lines were inspired by decades of hit records and a deep knowledge of the funk and soul genres that were often sampled.Created in collaboration with Arthouse Acoustics, expect full songstarters, slow grooves, blissed-out funk and soul guitars, complex layered stacks, subtle picked rhythms, and talking wah-wah lead lines. As always, we went a step further, chopping and resampling the recordings to create a collection of modern soundscapes, contemporary guitar melodies, and unique songstarters. Middle East Essentials - String Company
The Middle East Essentials series by Gio Israel sets the goal of capturing the most diverse, high-quality, and unique musical material, making ancient music, sounds and instruments accessible through state-of-the-art sound sampling. Turkish string sections are known to be some of the best in the world. Their precise sound and feel are like no others and add the Classical-Arabic sound that is so familiar within contemporary Middle Eastern music. For this pack we teamed-up with Istanbul composer and string arranger Samet Uras. Together with his amazing string musicians, we recorded this rare and unusual pack.

Memphis Soul Horn Stax
Memphis Soul Horn Stax is our first Splice Originals pack created in quarantine. Ben Wareham recorded all of the original sounds in his own home, holed up with every horn and wind instrument imaginable. The Splice Originals production team worked with him remotely throughout the entire process and polished the pack up in post. Wareham and the Originals team set out to achieve the arrangement sound of the legendary Memphis soul record label, Stax—home to Otis Redding, Booker T. & the MGs, and Isaac Hayes—to name a few. Wareham layered a baritone, alto, and tenor sax in addition to his trumpet to get this vibe. In this pack, you’ll find punchy stabs, swells, pads, arpeggios, and melodies all stacked together for that southern soul sound.

hill, 32, likes dad jokes and long walks on the moon. Black Octopus Sound is proud to present iamhill, releasing her dynamite album “Nobody Wants to be My Friend” on the new Black Octopus imprint; Black Octopus Music. But Black Octopus Music is doing something different…Not only is iamhill’s new album coming out worldwide on all platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, Beatport, etc), but you can grab the sample pack made entirely from the songs elements! As the first of its kind, this allows the listener to dive deeper into an Artist’s production and creative universe, allowing them to use the music elements to write songs of their own; entirely royalty free! First, let’s get started with a little backstory about hill of iamhill.hill is a Canadian writer, producer, and multi instrumentalist. The result is a collection of smooth grooves, vibrant percussion, syncopated beats, warm, lush pads, and atmospheric layers. Use these samples to craft lush harmonies and soulful melodies, or to add warmth and texture to your next production.
Vintage Pop Guitars
Vintage Pop Guitars offers all the signature progressions and melodies to make the next wave of hits. This pack includes searing lead lines, warm chords and infectious licks which can be tweaked and chopped to make your own! Recorded using classic electric guitars, including a Gibson ES 335, and both Fender Stratocasters and Telecasters. These guitars were then processed through a slew of classic 60s and 70s pedals using vintage amplification.
Daniel deSimone - Experimental Percussion
Percussionist, composer and Boston Conservatory alumn, Daniel deSimone spent a few hours sharing his passion for experimental percussion and acoustic oddities at the brand new Converse Rubber Tracks studio at Converse Headquarters in Boston. Providing a variety of atmosphere and texture, the session features everything from cymbals played with a violin bow to cowbells to beatboxing.

Soulful Piano & Keys: Resampled explores and reimagines the sounds and performances of our trilogy collection Soulful Piano & Keys Volumes 1-3. The original samples were flipped and resampled, effected, pitched and chopped with a selection of boutique fx, saturation and digital emulations creating a wide range of tones, textures and nostalgic sonic character. We also used the MIDI to re-design the performances with new layers to create all new songstarters. To create the original trilogy collection we recorded professional performances covering soulful RnB, jazz progressions, neo-soul and perfect pop hooks. Plus emotive piano themes, warm inspirational chord sequences and improvised melodies. We recorded dusty electric piano, vintage synths, grand piano, roomy uprights, vintage e-pianos, lo-fi vinyl keys, DX and FM style keys and more.

For the second Anguilla Sessions release, we collaborated with longtime Splice contributor KRS to flip the library of sounds we originally recorded in Anguilla. He crafted an Afro Dancehall pack, adding his own guitars, bass, programmed drums, and synths.
