Highlighting four decades of Hindi Film Music soundtracks, Vintage Bollywood is a carefully curated collection of some of the most iconic and beloved sounds from the golden era of Hindi cinema. We recorded compositions for this pack in iconic Mumbai studios with a 15+ piece orchestra to achieve the authentic Bollywood sound for modern producers to use in their projects. This pack highlights melodic and percussive stacks composed and arranged for flexibility and inspiration. Instrumentation in this pack includes a string orchestra, Western & Latin percussion, Indian percussion, mandolin, guitars, sitar, bansuri, and vocals.Hindi film music, also known as Bollywood music, is an integral part of Indian culture and has a rich history dating back to the early 20th Century. The music, which encompasses songs accompanied by choreographed dances, played a pivotal role in the success of Hindi films. Bollywood music has endured popular appeal and cultural value through the years with composers including/blending influences ranging from latin and middle eastern music to Western pop, rock and blues.For Vintage Bollywood we pulled various iconic pieces of analogue and retro hardware to craft an authentic collection of samples that capture and recreate the sonics of vintage Bollywood. Compositions were written, produced and inspired in the style of music found in popular 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s Hindi films. The highlight of the collection includes loops and one-shots processed to vintage Ampex tape machine and pressed to vinyl for authentic retro warmth and dusty sonics.This pack was produced by Ishaan Chhabra, a composer and music producer based between Los Angeles and Mumbai. Ishaan’s work ranges from feature films and documentaries to branded commercials and can be heard in the critically acclaimed Sony TV series SCAM 2003 (2023), National Award winning Budhia Singh: Born to Run (2016), Emmy-nominated HBO documentary Momentum Generation (2018), and Academy Award-nominated documentary Writing With Fire (2021). In the mainstream Hindi film world, he scored Imtiaz Ali’s romantic drama Love Aaj Kal (2020) and Aanand L. Rai’s Raksha Bandhan (2022).
Tape Funk by Basement Freaks and Concord Audio
Basement Freaks in collaboration with Concord Audio bring us a warm, analog and fuzzy funky flavored sample pack; “Tape Funk”! This is the epitome of highest quality funky warm beats and music loops you can come across. And Tape Funk isn’t just a clever name; all the drums, percussion, FX and music loops were ran through an old Tape Machine during the tracking process, giving it exactly the tone and character you would desire from funky tape saturated loops and samples! True old school analog flavor is hard to find these days and Basement Freaks knew this and took it straight to the roots; doing the entire process straight onto an analog Tape Machine at Concord Audio facilities. Even though drums are the name of the game with this pack, Basement Freaks and Concord Audio didn’t stop there. Tape Funk also includes Fills, Guitars, Percussion, Top Loops, and Music Loops, giving you more bang for the buck and allowing you to create entirely new songs full of musical tape pizzazz. Alongside all of these carefully crafted tape recorded loops are One Shots and FX. Tying it all together are loads of unique and custom played Brass sections that were recorded live and with various performers, bringing extra fuel to this saturated marvel of a release. Influenced by the era of tape and styles such as Funk, Disco, 70s Soul and Funk, and bands such as James Brown, The Isley Brothers, Sly and the Family Stone, The Chi-Lites ,Gene Chandler and so many more!
Middle East Essentials - Ancient Percussion
The Middle East Essentials series by Gio Israel is a window into the hidden sounds of the Middle East. A collection of diverse, high-quality, and unique musical material, making ancient music, sounds and instruments accessible through state-of-the-art sound sampling. For this pack we chose esoteric and rare percussive instruments from the region, including the very rhythmic yet uncommon drums and bells used through different communities of the greater Middle Eastern region. From the Persian ceremonial Dahola and Davul, to the ancient Dumbak drum (originally played in Egypt, Armenia and Turkey), Dahola (clay darbuka), Tombak (aka Zarb), Moroccan Clay Bongos, Bandir, Tar, a range of local bells and even traditional spoon playing. When SEGA released a PS3 and XBOX 360-ready Sonic the Hedgehog game in 2006, reaction was notoriously negative. It’s a wonder that anyone remembered anything about the game, other than its’ horrific slow loading times and glitches.
